Why Do Students Procrastinate?

The bullet point that relates to me the most is, "Poor Time Management". I have TERRIBLE time management.I would much do anything else in the world than homework. I usually find other things to occupy my time before I even think about homework and when I FINALLY start to think about it, it stresses me out because of the little time I have to complete it. Something I can do to overcome procrastination is to either discipline myself or motivate myself. They would both work. I would discipline myself to study and to use what little time I have wisely. I can also motivate myself by working differently. Maybe working in small groups would help.

VIRTUAL FIELD TRIP

I did my virtual field trip to the pumpkin patch. I explained what we would be doing, what we would see, gave a calendar and had information for the parents on my prezi.

Field Trips are Fun and Educational

My all time favorite field trip was going to Pasadena, California with the All-Birdville Band to perform in the Rose Parade for New Years 2011. It was a once in a life time opportunity and I had THE time of my life. I spent a week in a very nice four star hotel, in California, with all of my closest friends. Not to mention, I got to perform in front of thousands of people during the parade. People from all around the world come and see this. I was even on national television! The relationships I built and the memories I made is an indescribable feeling.. It was truly an amazing and unforgettable experience.

I got to experience so many things I never thought I'd be able to. Some of the things-- In N Out Burger for the first time ever! I got to go to Universal Studios! I even got to go to Disney World!

This is easily the best field trip I've ever been on.

An Ethical Dilemma

My thoughts after reading this ethical dilemma..

Mark should not participate in the trashing of Christa. What the boys are doing on the private Facebook page is very wrong despite the fact that it cannot be seen by her. 

There are multiple reasons people post bad things about people on social networking sites. One of them could be because they find it humorous to make fun of people, when really, it isn't. 

The right thing for Mark to do is to tell someone. He should tell regardless of how the boys react to it. 

When I Grow Up I Want to be a Teacher!

I've wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember! I have a passion for being in the classroom around children and I feel like it is a true calling of what I should be doing in my life. Here are some of the reasons why I want to be a teacher..

• I love being around the students! 
• I want to make a lasting impact on the students lives. 
• I want to have my own classroom to decorate!!!! 

Some of the things that I learned from the Becoming a Teacher website is that different states get paid a lot more than here in Texas, but we are not the lowest paying state in America. I also learned that you can teach internationally, which would be a very neat experience. A distinct factor in determining your teacher salary is what type of degree you have.

The Rules

Ron Clark's #1 rule is: We are a family. This is an important rule because it maintains the trust, respect and love that should be present in a classroom.

Rules I would have in my classroom are..
1. Have respect.
2. Use your manners.

The High Cost of Education.

I plan to apply for grants, scholarships and student loans to pay for college. I don't think I've done enough to be completely ready for college. I should definitely work harder than I have been. I haven't applied for FASFA.

My thoughts on this article are that I should make sure I stay on track while I'm in college and make sure I'm doing the right things to get a job so I will be able to pay off my student loans.

Creativity Counts

What is creativity? 

Creativity is being able to see the world in a different perspective. 

Why is creativity important in education?

Creativity is important in education because everyone is creative in their own way. School would be very dull and incredibly boring without being able to use our imaginations. 

Imaginations and creativity go hand in hand. If you are using your imagination you are being creative. I also think it helps you learn better if you're able to use it. 

Hire me, please!

1.  Some of my strengths I would benefit from during an interview is eye contact. I always make sure I'm using good eye contact when I'm talking to anyone. Another thing is my people skills. I enjoy talking and listening to people so I think that would definitely be a strength during a job interview.
 
 A weakness I have is fidgeting. I fidget A LOT. I don't think that would be good during an interview because it's very distracting.

2.   I can over come my weakness by keeping my hands in my lap and being mindful of what my body is doing so its not a distraction. I can accentuate my strengths by keeping good eye contact and being a good listener and try not to talk too much.

3.  I've never applied for a job.

Digital Learning Day

A digital tool I could use in my classroom is the document camera. I could use it when teaching or explaining something new to them. I've used it when teaching a math game. It is beneficial to them because the picture is projected onto a large screen where the whole class can see it.

Digital tools that my teachers use on a day to day basis are power points and the document cameras for note taking. Sometimes we watch videos on the internet related to the subject we are studying.

MAKE IT HAPPEN IN 2012

1. I want to change my opinion about school. As of right now I really dread school. I think that if I made better grades and studied and understood what was going on, I would enjoy it a lot more.

2. I want to stop procrastinating. I am the biggest procrastinator. I think I could fix it by thinking that if I don't procrastinate, I'll make better grades which will keep me more interested in school.

3. If I study and pay more attention, I will understand what is going on in school. Which means I'll probably enjoy it more. Which makes me think I won't procrastinate.

Ideal Classroom

My ideal classroom would be a lot like the classroom in this article. I like the learning environment that is present in that classroom. I like how you can get help from your friends if you don't understand. I also believe that you could learn better in a more relaxed environment.
